"In other words, we are not showing authentic love unless we are intolerant of all the popular perversions of love". I do agree it is time to wake up....many times we are accepting popular perversions of love inside the Lord´s house. It ´s time to reconsider tolerance to "small" sins, before Jesus comes. That love that is intolerant of the world (1 John 2:16) must not just reject the love of pleasure and the love of material things, but the fundamental love of self that drives the flesh. When we make the moral choice to be dead to sin and self, and to love others as more important than ourselves (Phil. 2:3), we begin to become effective conduits of the real deal. I know this is outside the primary text, but one of the kinds of love we don’t lead is self-love, aka pride. We need to love our enemies, and yet abhor their love for sin, and that we love sin for that matter. We need to love the Word of God, and long to be holy, as He is holy. And as well, our hearts greatest love needs to grow toward Christ. Jesus Christ must be where our affections lie first and foremost, and then we shall love our family the way we need to, love the Church, and even our enemies. "Love so amazing, so divine, Demands my soul, my life, my all." Amen. We need to love our enemies, and yet abhor their love for sin, and that we love sin for that matter.
