I'm one of those lucky ones who attended this years conference - and now I lament the fact it ended. Kinda felt like Peter, James and John on the mountain with Jesus: Lord, could we build some shacks here and live for ever!

I'm so glad for Nathan's eloquent defense of Reformation theology in the light of church fathers. I come from a Romancatholic country (Croatia, Europe) and in the past year I was struggling to defend five Solas because of Romancatholic theologians pointed to the Fathers... well, Nathan was right, I'm one of protestants not so well grounded in the Fathers (but, when we read Luther and Calvin we see that they were actually better equipped in the learning of the fathers than the Catholics of the 16th century).

Thanks guys!!! It was great and I can't wait to download the messages from the web as soon as they appear!

Blessings from Croatia from a TMAI graduate!

I'm only 17 and still in school, so visiting the Shepherd's Conference is still a lifetime away. Still though, it has been greatly encouraging and inspiring to read what happened during last week. Thanks so much for sharing your great week!

Nate B.
No apologies were necessary. My assumption, always dangerous ;-), was that music might be included since it was part of the webcast. Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch much of the live webcasts (none of session 1) due to schedule conflicts. I did get to see some of the music of Session 8 and it was great. Does anyone know if it is it possible to record the webcasts on your PC for later viewing?
We attended Grace in the '70's and I have wonderful memories of Jubilant Sykes magnificant voice praising God in song and wanted to hear it again.
Thank you for your excellent summaries of the messages and trying to put us "there" with your descriptions of the glorious music. I guess I'll just have to attend in person next year.
I am blessed daily by your ministry at "The Pulpit". Your scholarship and spirit is always welcome.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for letting us know about the technical issues. I am actually not involved in those IT matters, however, I will be passing on your concerns directly to our IT department. I would also like to personally extend an apology, on behalf of the conference, to those of you who experienced technical difficulties (with downloading or otherwise). We are currently working on greatly expanding our bandwidth here at the church, but we've hit a few roadblocks with our internet provider. Nonetheless, there are things being done to try and improve the situation.

Norm, thanks for your comment also. I believe the reason that the music is not included is for copyright concerns (as our ASCAP license does not extend to audio or video reproductions). But I will ask our music department about it to see what they say. I agree with you that, if it were possible, including the music would be a wonderful addition. I also deeply apologize to you if we mislead you in anyway. It was certainly not our intention to do so.

If you have specific questions for the Conference, you can contact them by phone at 818-909-5530. Again, we are very sorry for causing anyone any inconvenience.

Nate B.
I know you’re probably not the right person to tell this but I don’t know who else to write. I purchased and downloaded the video of conference session 1 last night (Took over two hours!) and started to watch it this AM. I had been looking forward to seeing the whole session all night in my dreams. I was so disappointed when I discovered that the music was not included. I don’t know what drove this decision or what kind of difficulties (copyright or others) would have been encountered to do so but I so wanted to experience the WHOLE service.
Your writing was partially to blame for whetting my appetite with your descriptions of the music like, “The service begins with the resounding singing of a choir made up of students from The Master’s Seminary, and culminates in a glorious anthem sung by Jubilant Sykes. For those of you who have attended a Shepherds’ Conference, you can understand what the singing and music here is like. For those of you who haven’t, it’s hard to adequately describe without excessive hyperbole. The most spectacular part is not the singing from up front, but rather the congregational numbers. As the attendees join their voices together in unison, the effect is nothing short of electrifying. Heavenly would certainly be an appropriate adjective.”
Please pass this on to whomever you think is appropriate. I would love to be able to “see the whole thing” someday if possible.

I will have to agree with the others here and say that it took me over 3 hours to download the session 9 video. That was after getting on the phone with my high speed internet provider and having them tweak everything so that I was getting the best download speed I could.

I still have two more videos to download and I don't look forward to it. On one try I actually lost the feed and could not get it back after 2 hours of download time with only 48% of the video downloaded, so I had to start all over again.

I hate to complain because I am so appreciative of all that you men do to help all of us be able to share in the riches of the teaching at the Shepherd's Conference.

I know that in the future all of these technical difficulties will be worked out.

Thanks for all you do for us at Pulpit Magazine

Nathan,

Do you know if more bandwidth will be added to the conference downloads. I know there's probably tons of people trying to buy them but one of the videos took 5 hours today on high speed.

thanks,
Jeremy

Hi Wake,

Fair question... I'll be sending those notes over with my notes from this last year. In the meantime, send me an email at nbusenitz[at]gracechurch.org, and I'll gladly shoot you a copy directly.

NB

P.S. I think we might do a series on the charismatic issue here on Pulpit. So those notes may show up here in the near future.

Nate: Currently only the CDs are available, not the mp3 downloads.

Also, unless I've missed it, you've not answered a question for over a year now that I've asked on several occasions. Perhaps I just need to ask it where I see you active (like in this thread) so hopefully you'll see it and respond:

Are you ever going to post the session notes for your session from last year's ShepCon (2007)? Still looking forward to those notes. You're the only one still listed as "Coming Soon" on the Resources page that offers the session Notes.

Thanks.
