We can use our prayer life as a bit of a spiritual barometer; lacking prayer = lacking closeness to the Savior. I think sometimes we fool ourselves about how committed we really are. Frequency and fervency of prayer should be a realistic indicator. Nice work.

Thanks for this Dr. Mac.

My daughter was at her high school retreat this last weekend. The highschool pastor (Master's College grad, by the way) taught through 1 Thess. 5:16-18, and challenged the kids to rejoice, pray, and be thankful always. She asked me how to do that. I gave her a reasoned answer, and this will help supplement my answer! Thanks!

Excellent! It reminds me of St. Augustine's words,

"He that loveth little prayeth little, he that loveth much prayeth much."
