I just finished reading the book, and my overall impression is that it provides a response that unfortunately lumps scholarship and sensationalism together, so that the conservative Christians who are the book’s most likely readers will not be encouraged to distinguish between Crossan and Cameron. While I am grateful for the authors’ willingness to acknowledge points on which they agree with their dialogue partners, the overall impression I had was far from an attempt to genuinely learn from these others’ viewpoints and so come up with a viewpoint that made progress beyond either extreme.
