The Qur'an may be the central Islamic "text," but I'd argue that practically speaking, the Sunnah (found in the texts of Hadith and Sira) is the central Islamic authority, and nonMuslims not knowing this contributes greatly to an erroneous understanding of the religious-political ideology of Islam, to the detriment of missions as well as national security.

Hi Nate B...

Kind of unrelated..but I figured I would post my question here. I noticed that the Shepard's Fellowship website has been redesigned...and also I noticed that the website for the Shephard's conference has also been redesigned...

However, do you know where the Conference Notes have gone? I can't seem to find them...Also, did you ever have your conference notes posted? They were on the Charismatic Movement... I would greatly appreciate your response :)

God Bless...

Hi Tia,

Thanks for your comments. The Shepherds' Conference message in question was done by Dr. Bill Barrick.

His seminar notes can be read online at the <a href="http://www.biblebb.com/files/MAC/SC03-1024CDNotes.htm" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow"><strong>Bible Bulletin Board</strong></a>.

They provide a helpful summary on this topic.

Also, I think there was either a Sunday message or a message at a Shepherd's Conference dealing with Islam? I remember finding it really helpful - "The Gospel According to Muhammed" (I forgot who the speaker was).

Thanks for this post/equipping.

I remember back in high school, a Muslim student spoke about the Koran to our history class. She said she believed Islam, not Christianity, because the Christian Scriptures had been tainted with human error & interpretation . . . & that the Koran had never undergone translation or change since it was "given" . . .

It's weird, you wouldn't fall into the trap of being offensive if you were criticising agnosticism, yet when it comes to Islam, everyone cowers in fear. It is understandable, in the current climate of fear but islam is another false doctrine.

Zakaria Botros is a Coptic (Egyptian christian) priest who has spent a significant part of his life studying Islamic texts: Quran, hadiths, fatwas by imams from Al Azhar etc. He evangelises to muslims on a personal level and through his television programmes on arabic christian channel 'Al Haya' (Life). God has used him to bring thousands of muslims to Christ and as a result he is a wanted man and has been booted out of the Orthodox Egyptian Church by that wonderful non-political man, Pope Shenouda.

This link he has done offers some English answers to common issues that are raised by muslims:

(please try to look past the priestly garb, he's a good guy)

Thanks for this, as the song goes "The Bible stands..." let God be true and every man a liar. I think if the church new the basics of what others believe we would be better prepared to give an answer for our hope instead of the lame and usual responses we give unbelievers - sadly I attribute this to two things:lack of interest in the dying and laziness - may God be gracious in pardoning our sins.
