What strikes me about Piper's article is the complete lack of helping the people in need. He's only a mile or so from the bridge, but no mention is made of going to the site to help people who were injured, wet, bleeding, hungry or distraught. He has great spiritual insights (as always), but it seemed strange not to find physical care for those in catastrophic need when he was so close. Nor was there any indication on the church website in the immediate aftermath of care for the people.

That I-35 bridge was deemed "structurally deficient" by the federal government back in 1990..........just like the levees in New Orleans. Just imagine all the problems that would be eliminated if we paid attention and took care of issues deemed necessary for the safety of human life.

Just like Pearl Harbor and 9-11. All these warnings were sent out but no one paid attention or they dismissed them from their minds because they didn't actually think something bad would happen........(I mean after all, who would dare attack our great country.......to arrogant if you ask me).

With all due respect, I don't think this is the best venue to discuss the political/government issues. Although the article on taxes was somewhat related, the responses I see on here are usually directly related to the subject matter of the articles. I don't mean to offend anyone. I'm the least of nobodies, and that's just my take. Thanks.

Correction.........Gog/Magog war is Iran and Russia coming against Israel. But nevertheless, I believe China is the King of the East as mentioned in scripture concerning end times.

If the states would allocate enough money for maintenance (which I am sure is in the billions) of these bridges all over the country that are in desperate need of repair, we would perhaps see less of this. I am not being critical, just objective.

Most of these bridges have endured many years of harsh elements and are subject to incredible rust which loosens the bolts. The history channel just aired an hour program last night on why bridges collapse.

Perhaps the government might give more tax dollars to the states department of transportation now. Just like Atlanta......there needs to be more interstates made for the influx of transplates and a growing city (there are only 3 major interstates in that city and everybody drives on them making for a MISERABLE commute). I know many of Los Angeles interstates are way over due for new construction and alternate interstates to accomodate terrible traffic, not to mention police chases!

Again I am not being critical, only objective. There is some criticism that is actually constructive that has change for the better in mind.
But I guess it's wishful thinking for our elected officials to see the department of transportation as a priority and controlling crime in our cities as well. Much funding from the government has been
discontinued, seeing it as not important. After all, Bushy has to balance the budget with the Iraq war.

It's only a matter of time before our economy goes down the toilet. And all these ( BAD ) products coming from China which Bush encourages free trade, meanwhile China is taking all the profits to build up their military. They are becoming more and more a superpower. (Gog/Magog war).

I know this might seem irrelavant, but people need to pay attention to warnings and they don't.

The article by Piper is wonderful. There is even a video on Abraham's blog with a sermon by Piper as audio. Well worth a read, watch, and listen.

I am from Minneapolis and it is pretty weird now that I don't live there to see the bridge and the collapse. My mother-in-law went over that bridge twice on the same day as did my brother, who lives a few blocks away. I used to drive over it almost everyday in college. Always makes you think about sovereignty and why them and not me?
