Pulpit Picks

(By Nathan Williams)

Plug in to Pulpit PicksThis week I decided to take a little break from the articles I’ve been doing on justification and do something we haven’t done in a while, Pulpit Picks. Enjoy!

We’ll begin with 10 myths concerning Martin Luther. (HT: SmartChristian)

Since we’ve been doing articles on justification on Saturday’s, you should find this series concerning the atonement helpful

There has been a good deal of discussion concerning Mormonism this week in the blogosphere. If you have the time and are interested, it looks like this documentary would be worth watching.

Desiring God posts several links dealing with the issue of Divorce.

Here is an interesting article on the place of American flags in the church that generated much discussion.

Phil Johnson discusses real liberty on the 4th of July.

I very much enjoy these short video excerpts of his debates that James White posts.

I found this article by Dr. Mohler concerning the new German TV station that deals with death 24 hours a day to be fascinating.

I certainly hope this “how-to” video on baptism will make you cringe.

Finally, if the baptism video doesn’t make you cringe, surely this MTV based Bible Study will.

Is that MTV Bible study fo’ rizzle? I saw a great satire on Wittenberg Door about Creflo Dollar at a “hip-hop spirituality” conference and it sounded real for a while. Keep it rizzle, my nizzle!

The Baptism video made me cringe, and also the info the “Rockin’ the Orchard 2″ series at the Orchard “Community”, which features “six decades of rock n’ roll” messages!

Apparently soaking in the “deep” content of godless rockers is equal to medidating upon the true riches of Scripture!

The baptism video not only made me cringe, I almost lost my breakfast. This is what happens when someone tries to be “cool and funny” and ends up being neither. It becomes painfully embarrassing. Unfortunately, a wide swath of the church bears a bit of responsibility here, for the devaluing of baptism over the years has led to things like this video.

I don’t know, I didn’t think the Baptism message was that bad. Sometimes, we get too caught up on the message style rather than the content. Perhaps instead of bashing their culture, we should be more concerned with their beliefs (which, judging by their website, are theologically sound). Did I cringe at the MTV one? Yea, that’s too far for me…
