Above verse for my thinking is Romans 6:17;
"But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted."

For *some* involved in the Emerging Church Movement (not all in this movement have faulty theology), but for some, I have come back to the Cross.

This has saved me a lot of time doing "head talk" and getting right down to the core of the gospel. What do they believe about the Cross? Do they believe in penal substitution? What do they believe propitiation means?

"In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins"

AMEN!

I am amazed at how many in church setting, life groups, bible studies, etc., miss this point and seem to be poisoned by the love of Oprah or Dr Phil. There are some truths these individuals proclaim (it is rarely so black & white) but this view of love falls so short and misses the mark so blatantly.

I have almost made it my ministry to bring the church back to the Cross and to challenge in a "loving way" others to think deeply about the Cross. There is nothing more potent and emotional than the Cross. Understanding must pierce both mind and heart in order for one to act (will) accordingly for God's glory.

Just my take and open to discuss if I'm am off base in anyway.

God is a jealous God. This truth rings ever true everyday. We are bombarded with materialims and idols which seek to deviate our love and devotion to Christ. It is so easy for our love for Christ to grow cold as it gravitates towards worldly affections.

I was thinking about this the other day and if all we needed was God then why did God say "It is not good for man to be alone"? It seems to me that God created mankind in such a way that He is best glorified when we are in unity with another (wife, friend, ect...).
