Chad,

The church is called Timberlake Baptist Church. It is at the corner of Timberlake Rd. and Waterlick Dr. The new pastor is working on his D.Min. out here at TMS. I think you will be very happy with the teaching. I grew up there, great people. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

Nathan, good job. Can you do anything in life without having a reaction of the mind, emotion, and will? I can't. If I can't do something as mundane as a math problem without it affecting my entire being, how in the WORLD can I participate in something so sublime as to be reborn into a new creature and it have no impact on me?! Seems quite silly.

Chad,

Thanks for the comment. I agree that it is quite difficult to sing with proper affections when the songs are weak in theological content. Good content in songs drives proper affections. I checked out your profile and found out that you live in Lynchburg, VA and are attending Liberty. I grew up in Lynchburg and know of a good church in town you could try if your circumstances allow it. Where are you living in Lynchburg?

Those questions to ponder are very affecting. A meditation on 1 Pt. 1:8 always humbles and Edwards is a master at humbling me!

May God grant all our affections be in tune with this as we worship Him in spirit and in truth.

In your fourth challenge, we are asked to look at how our singing is with joyetc., to God, or with a dull heart. In my own case, I am in a situation of regularily attending services (becasue of circumstances the only body of believers available for me to join with) that are "seeker-entertainment" model, and I struggle with not going dull, as I spend 3/4 of my time annalysing the bad theological content, and wondering if I should be singing the current song. I often feel cold and dry as I struggle to participate.

I am challenged to find ways to worship rightly despite this!
