Pulpit Picks

Pulpit Picks(By Nathan Williams)

* Nathan Williams serves as an intern for the Shepherds’ Fellowship.

The weekend has finally arrived! We trust you have benefited from the series on the Charismatic issue and the detour discussing the KJV only position. We’ve decided to do a little something different on Saturday’s from now on.

We’ve tirelessly searched the web to find some of the best articles from the blog world this week. Some you may have read, some you may have missed, and all are good. So enjoy the Pulpit Picks for this weekend.

This week there have been a number of solid posts dealing with the topic of preaching.

We wanted to highlight this series that Pastor Steve Weaver has been doing on his own personal preparation to preach.

Assistant Pastor Colin Adams posts a quote describing John Stott’s personal preparation for preaching.

Ever wonder about the advantages of preaching verse by verse through books of the Bible? Matt Waymeyer has.

So many Pastors today do every thing but study hard to preach. The guys at Fide-O answer the question, why should a pastor be so preoccupied with preaching God’s Word?

Thabiti Anyabwile ponders the relationship of preaching to culture.

Speaking of culture and preaching, here is an article from Banner of Truth on relevance in preaching.

Here is a discipline of preaching we should all be growing in.

Phil Johnson discusses Charles Spurgeon and Expository Preaching.

If you have never read it and you ever preach, buy it and read it.

If you own this, you shouldn’t be preaching.

Don’t follow this preacher’s example.

Did you know this existed? We sure didn’t…

That is all for this week, we’ll have more Pulpit Picks for you next Saturday. In the mean time, enjoy the regular articles.

Thanks for the links. For the “this existed?” site I want to say that I have been there and it is NOT just some “money-making, entertainment” but I found it to be Biblically sound and the gospel was unashamedly presented. If you are in the area it is definitely better than the “Mouse-world” not too far away.

Thanks for the article — and the information. Great ideas on an important subject!

  5. [...] The Pulpit Magazine blog had a great article yesterday about the art of preparing a sermon. It was actually a collection of posts from other places across the internet about preaching and sermon preparation. [...]
